Looks like WotC's attempt to fix psionic combat is up and disappointing as it comes. They didn't fix a blasted thing, just added a bunch more feats that psions can't afford to take in order to spend even more points on psionic combat.

Here's to hoping that Bruce Cordell has a better idea.

Or at least we'll stick by the house rule of "psionic combat doesn't exist."

You don't take the alterations as feats, you take them in the place of combat modes and of course as with the Resculpt Mind feat, you continue to get additional Combat mode slots every other level untill you have all of them.

That helps somewhat, except with the whole just how many points are we supposed to save for psionic combat, which this exacerbates.

I guess the point is that I wanted a rethinking of the whole subject, and instead, they're trying to throw a bandaid to us to cover up the sucking chest wound.

They have to work within the confines of the "released product".
Don't worry, by the end of the month you will have two alternate systems to try out.
