(In DDM, that's very important for ranged attacks, as you're otherwise forced to attack the closest enemy, so this lets you use the weakest iterative attacks against fodder to clear the way for your best attack against the strongest enemy.)
In D&D, this lets you get rid of a low-level body guard (skeleton, goblin, etc.) then move 5 feet and attack the BBEG with your full BAB.
I don't know how I feel about that. It should be enlightening to see the rules mentioned, though, so I'm holding out for that.
