So hopefully this doesn’t come off wrong as I don’t mean it as a negative….the designs remind me of funko pop design. That intentional or just my “eyes” seeing the, in that light?
It's chibi style. As a starter set meant for newer and younger players, I was going for something....less serious. So hopefully this doesn’t come off wrong as I don’t mean it as a negative….the designs remind me of funko pop design. That intentional or just my “eyes” seeing the, in that light?
Which starter set is this? Are you talking about their line of Standees they have?Their starter set had over 100 pawns

These "Pathfinder Pawns" sets are what I was thinking of. Theres quite a few of them. I was thinking of getting a some not too long ago but decided against it. They look like a good value, but then I'd have to sort and store them to find what I'm looking for. I think at the time we stopped playing for a while too, so I never got them. Adding to the cost of the pawns would most likely be few tackle box's or hardware organizers, or else you'd just end up searching through a box of a few thousand standees.I believe they are referring to the Beginner Boxes that Paizo has.
Agree 100%. Most if not all starters sets, I've ever bought were a waste of money. I think I did buy the 1E PF starter set and was impressed with it. Aside from the early 1E starter sets I had 40some years ago, I don't remember ever using any others. If I have bought/buy them now, it's usually out of curiosity to check out new rule sets rather than having any intention of using them. I gave away my copy of the first 5E D&D Starter Set.Most starter sets are worthless for beginning RPG players.

For clarity, even though I used the term "starter set", it's really not planned on being a starter. It's a boxed set, including the full game, but with added bits that are user-friendly to newer players--so kinda a starter but not just a starter. It's meant to give the full game to the players as well as giving hints and advice to newer players.Agree 100%. Most if not all starters sets, I've ever bought were a waste of money.
Think we're talking about 2 different things; I must've missed your post on the starter set you're talking about above. For clarity, even though I used the term "starter set", it's really not planned on being a starter.
I'm just not a fan of them. Personally, I haven't used them since I was 10. Here's a story to sum up. A few of us we're playing, 3-4 players and a DM. In the mid 90s we bought the black starter set for one of our players who wanted to try their hand at DMing. He'd been playing for a few years with us who had been DMing for years. Well, he DM'd and it was a complete disaster. If a starter set can't teach a player whose been playing for a while with competent DMs to DM, then it's a failure. Give that box to a group of new players and I'd hazard to guess that it never gets used. What about those starter sets make them bad? Is it stopping at level 3? Not explaining the game well enough?
