Misery Tourism Games

I hope this is in the correct forum. I see you've closed your press releases/promos/shameless self-promotion forum.

Anyway, we just launched an indie RPG website with an, er, unique premise:

At Misery Tourism Games, we design role-playing games about vice, inhumanity and suffering. On this site you'll find terrible games about terrible people in terrible situations.

We don't design games to make a moral point or push an agenda. We don't design games to offend you or your sociology professor or your congressman. We do it because we believe there is fun to be had in exploring tragedy and depravity with your friends in the safety of your kitchen, den or mother's basement. Yes, fun. These are fun games. Or they should be.

Have fun.

Umm...Yeah. Good luck with that!

Not something I would AT ALL be interested in.

Ditto. But, interestingly, the name Misery Tourism is far, far more deplorable than any of the announced games would indicate.

The actual games seem fairly pedestrian and tame. I'd hate for them to ever actually live up to the brand name.

I'm glad people are trying to do different things in RPGs. Some of these look like games I wouldn't mind one shotting someday.

Cool! If you do, please drop us an email and let us know how it went. We are serious about refining these games until they offer the best experience possible.

Wow. You're the first person to say this. I'm interested in what you think is tame here. Is it the subject matter? I have trouble seeing student/ZOMBIE as a tame game.

Is it the mechanics? Were you expecting something more extreme or ugly in the way the games are played? We were really trying to give all of the games fun, competitive social mechanics. We didn't want the mechanics to be aggressive or painful or pointlessly provocative. The subject matter is miserable, but we don't want the players to be.
