MIT students create giant d20 to honor Gary

i want. :o

edit: way to go Rystil A
Wasn't me this time, but I did hear about it--my new group was playing some D&D and preparing a module for the pre-frosh, and one guy ran in and said "Hey guys, there's a giant d20 in Killian Court!"

Ironically, since it was MIT, no one was particularly surprised. There was also a massive Settlers of Catan board there a while ago, a pirate hat and patch on the dome, the Wright Brothers' plane on the dome, etc. MIT Hackers are fun folks.

Anyways, my tribute to Gary isn't as big or noticable, but I think he would approve--I don't usually run campaigns with adventures that are very dungeon-crawl oriented, but I wrote in a little classic dungeon crawl and everyone had a lot of fun. Good thing they didn't step on the traps :]

I have to admit I saw the headline and was a little disappointed when I saw the pictures. I was expecting that someone had managed to turn the dome into a giant d20.

Finally a die that Kevin Cook doesn't have. :D

(Although I'll bet he'll try to buy it.)

LOL ... nope ... this one needs to stay where it is :)

I only got to meet Gary once ... and this is a memorial to him

But is there enough room to game inside?

Not unless you're a chipmunk. The thing is just a few feet across.

It was kind of nice to be walking down the Infinite Corridor on my way to work and see the thing sitting there - it was a grey day, threatening drizzle, which handily set the mood.
