Mithral armor and Large creatures

Do you add in the mithral price adjustment before or after doubling the price for armor?

If no, then doesn't it use up more mithral? Wouldn't that cost more?

If yes, then should Small or smaller creatures get a discount?

Do you add in the cost for masterwork armor before or after doubling the cost for Large creatures?

um ... okay. That's a good question, I think it's going to come down to personal taste.

I'd add in the price afterwards, like a magical enchantment.

Quality vs Amount

I think your dealing with two different things here amount and quality.

Mithral cost more due to the material, it could be adamantite or gold, or Darkwood or whatever its a material cost. the more material your using the more it will cost.

So yes Id make large suits of Mithral cost more and Small suits cost less. DO multiply the material cost. If it comes out that its not cost effective you might house rule it. But more than likely theres a way to get the effect the player or DM is looking for.

The Masterwork deals with Quality not Quantity. A large suit of masterwork Scale is going to cost whatever the base cost of the armor is plus 300gp. so figure out the price mormally for the armor and add 300gp to it. Dont add it in and multiply it.

i agree with Krail Stromquism

larger armor needs more mithral while
masterwork needs more skill

after all a masterwork dagger and a masterwork greatsword both add +300 to the cost even though one is considerably larger

so apply mithral before doubling and masterwork after

So.....

Create a set of mithril platemail for a pixie, with the price adjusted for the smaller size (Tiny).

Then have it enchanted to +1, and put it on, since magical armor will resize itself to the wearer.

I think I would rule that making special material armor smaller than Medium requires better craftsmanship and ends up costing the same as medium armor.

hmm ... (thinking out loud with my fingers here)

I think I would house rule it so the only resizing that takes place is between S>M>L

anything larger or smaller does not resize ...

[edit: CB, small armor costs the same as medium ... so I woudn't give small creatures a price break]
