The DMG shows how to comptue the encounter level of two dissimilar creatures (basically, CR X plus CR X-2 = CR X+1). But what about more than two?

For instance, a 5th-level ranger with three trained dogs. Or a Hag Covey (three hags with CRs of 4, 5, and 6 respectively). Or a hag and two of its ogre flunkies.

How do you compute the Encounter Level of such a group?
