MM errata!

Shall we post errors that aren't mentionned and aren't likely to be corrected?

Like:

p113 in the Grick description, "Its body coloration is uniformly dark, shading to dull gray on its underbelly", should be "Its body coloration is green, its underbelly is yellow". (see the grick picture p113)

it isn't likely to be changed because it would requires to redo the creature or to redo the pic.

A thread on MM description was posted on the Monster Manual messageboard of WotC with all the errors, but it has been apparently lost in the messageboard update :(

I thought Tigers smelt...

I am playing a Druid in our current campaign, and the errata persists in the belief that Tigers do not get the Scent ability, while Dire Tigers and Were Tigers both get it, along with all the other big cats.

Here are the typographical corrections I've noted in the past, but do not appear in the current MM Web Errata. I've taken the liberty of both posting them here and emailing them to Anthony Valtera at this time (per suggestion above).

Suggested additional Monster Manual corrections:
- p. 63, "Black Dragon", change "Wyrmling 5-6 HD (Small)" to "Wyrmling 5-6 HD (Tiny)" (or else fix table).
- p. 78, "Drider", in Damage, should have the added words "and poison"
- p. 79, "Dwarf", needs a space in Attacks between "short sword" and "+1"
- p. 80, "Dwarf", Derros are said to have spiked bucklers, which contradicts PH p. 106 as not being possible.
- p. 87, "Ethereal Marauder" should have in Attacks the added word "melee"
- p. 90, "Formian", for Warrior, Taskmster, and Queen, in Damage, add the words "and poison"
- p. 123, "Invisible Stalker", in Attacks, add the word "melee"
- p. 173, "Stirge", in Attacks, add the word "melee".
- p. 174 & 176, For "Tarrasque" and "Titan", change "Challenge Level" to "Challenge Rating".
- p. 205-206, Change all stat block titles of "HD" to "Hit Dice" for consistency.

One other observation: I don't think they did the right thing in cutting down the Face/descriptive size of the larger Dire Animals. In so doing, they made those creatures (Dire Bear, Tiger, Shark) abnormally small for their number of HD and CR. I think they would have been better served by just increasing the Size Category of those monsters.

Closest average HD by size (discounting dragons, as per analysis on www.superdan.net/dndmisc/dragons_are_too_small.html):

Dire Bear: HD12, closest to avg. HD13 for Huge monsters.
Dire Tiger: HD16, closest to avg. HD18 for Gargantuan monsters.
Dire Shark: HD18, closest to avg. HD18 for Gargantuan monsters.

I thought of another thing. Why is there no mechanic for shadows to hide in darkness/shadows? All they have is a +8 hide skill which is extremely insufficient to cover this.

MM, p.41: Dretch has no skills listed. As a 2-HD Outsider with an Int of 5, it should have 10 skill points, though.

IIRC, Increasing the size screws with Druids (wildshape size restrictions)

Re: Errata to the errata

First of all, I am upset that they didn't errata the Darkmantle to allow Improved Grab to be used against Small and Medium-sized creatures. By the current rules, Darkmantles can only Improved Grab creatures that are Tiny or smaller. Yeah, that's really useful.

As if those nasty critters weren't enough trouble already.

Hey, who turned out the lights? Leave us alone! Stop squeezing!
