Question: Is the maxiumum number of ranks in ability that has ranks is equal to the campaigns power level?
I think this one came up a page or so ago, so check for the specific references, but apparently there's no actual limit on power ranks, just on the various effects (Save DC, Ability scores, etc.)

Beaten by the frog (due to internet crapping out).

Here are those messages:
Is there a limit to how many ranks you can buy in Powers? I would have guessed it equals to the PL, but I didn't find anything.

Actually, there's no real limit to ranks.

The PL does limit several things. It limits damage DC. It limits bonuses to saves, and to skills and to attributes. These limits can make further ranks pointless, but it doesn't actually outlaw them.

For example:

At PL 6, you can't have a bigger bonus to damage than +6. This doesn't mean you can only buy 6 ranks of a Blast though. I could buy 10 ranks if I wanted. It's just that I'd only be getting +6 to damage DC from those 10 ranks. The only good those extra 4 ranks would be doing me would be increasing range.

Shayuri also forgot to mention that PL does not just limit the damage modifier, it also limits the save DC modifier (which is my only real gripe with the system considering that the Max save bonus is much higher then the max DC modifier).

EDIT: questions completed.

Sorry about the hold up guys, work and christmas partying and roleplaying but now i have 2 weeks off so I should be able to get terrence finished.
As well as his shape changing I'm thinking of ESP with the limit medium, of television screens but I also want to him to be able interact with the anyone who can see the screen, basically he appears to be on TV and can wave and speak as well as listen and see.

Also wondering if he could key off a very basic telepathy which relates only to the viewers attitude towards TV programs and personalites, so he could tell their favourtie personality what shows they watch etc? Basically these powers would come from his parents his father had teleportation and his mother had Mental abilities, the shapechanging being a new addition. Was also pondering duplication so he could act out scenes with himself but we'll see about that.

For the actual shapechanging I'll probably do out several stat blocks leaving a few spare points for differing feats and change the descriptions. Shapechanging will be limited to TV characters and personalites, films which have been on TV will also count (In the end I figured I needed this I couldn't think of anything cooler than him turning into Jake Elwood from the Blues Brothers and quoting this line [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rQQFixaqeV0[/ame] )

[sblock=questions and answers]

Shapeshift would allow that, but considering the number of Super Hero/fantasy/sci fi shows that would exist, I don't think your power qualifies for the limited flaw. So if anything the only able to turn into tv characters/iconic tv vehicles would be a descriptor at best.
Ooooh thanks for that, thats really added a nice backstory to Terrence :D

Apologies for the overly long generic backstory ;)

[sblock=backstory]
Terrence was son of a little known English Superhero duo of mutants Mr V and Scarlett who were also a couple in real life.

Mum and Dad loved Terrence very much, so much that they continued fighting crime to make the world a better place for their little one to grow up in.
Unfortunately Crime and Disasters don't keep a regular schedule and his parents day jobs couldn't afford a 24 hour a day Nanny, so the Television would have to do.
And what did Terrence love to watch? superheroes be they in documentaries, cartoons or movies.
But one day at the age of 11 Mum and Dad didn't come back leaving Terrence on his own and put into care of the government while they tried to find him a new home.
This was when his powers hit

Shapechanging powers! a power that lends itself to pranks and hoaxs that troubled teenage boys are prone to.

This made Terrence difficult to find a home for, he would pull pranks like hiding as a lamp in his room when potential foster parents visited or even when he was adopted once or twice the pranks he would pull would ended up with him being dumped back at a foster home.

His only constant companion in these times was a hard women the name of Mary who was the cook at the adoption home he lived at for most of his teenage years.

Terrence's pranks had other conequences he shifted schools many times but this did lead to one good thing he got the oppurtunity to practice at making friends quick and he did this over and over again with new kids from his latest school or the newest additions to his home at the orphanage.

But still over all these years the TV was always there for him and his impersonations of TV characters were always his most popular, over the years he lost any ability to change into anything which wasn't Television, his actual outward confident character being an act itself.

At the age of 16 Terrence received an average bunch of GCSE results (for a bright boy like him anyhow) and proceeded into A-Levels (average again) and then University taking a course in media studies focusing on what else but Televisual studies resulting in him just scraping a Third.

After that he managed to go through a bunch of jobs in television starting off as a tea boy helping out with cameras and props for a number of different companies, during this time he decided to do something with his powers other than scoring cheap dates with girls he started a number of minor viligilante acts scaring off punks at the local parks by turning into pro wrestlers, because they had annoyed him, turning into Buffy (aka Sarah Michelle Geller) coming on to a lad and then turning him down because he was "asking for it".

He also saw the advantages in his powers and as his job had taken him to London he thrived on turning into TV celebrities to get free access to glitzy events but this is where it landed him in trouble one night after changing into the latest winner of the last celebrity reality TV show to get into a swanky up market club for free the actual guest was present, the door staff had collared Terrence before he could make his escape and the old bill were called (old bill = police).

A few hours of grilling from a private detective who had been making a list of these suprising celebrity appearances (not all of them spotted correctly, mind) and the big boys were called in MI6's super power division Super Power Investigations SPI (pronounced spy, see what I did there :p ) for short, Terrence was young, and is reasonably gullible the agents hyped up his crimes and coerced him into working for their agency.

A few years later and they gave up on him citing his unpredictability, excessive showmanship and inability to keep quiet as reasons why he wasn't suited for them, over the years they had assigned him to various shrinks and doctors to try and figure out why he could no longer transform into anything he liked, especially other heroes but the results were for naught.

Freshly unemployed and looking for something new Terrence Vance tried a number of "heroic" endeavors both solo and as a team (under a variety aliases, broadcast and Telly addict being two of them) but they didn't really work then he hears about a TV show looking for supes, someone up there must be smiling on him he thought as he grabbed a mates cam corder and started work on his audition tape.

[sblock=more Stuff on Terrence's inner workings and life]
Can Terrence have a secret benefactor a behinds the scene one who has been watching out for him/had people watching out for him throughout his life and made sure things didn't go really badly for him, so staying out of jail stopping the odd retaliation, I'm thinking he could be a friend of the parents or even his parents arch nemesis?

Oh yeah I hope creating SPI is Ok ;)

Terrence is *$&"ed in the head his whole life is one continuous act even when hes not in costume or shapechanged, the death of his parents has really effected him but he won't admit it. His shapechanging limits are because of his subconcious association of superheroes being linked with death, though his natural moral compass he inherited from his parents has lead him to several occurences of heroism which he has disguised from himself with explantions of they earned it or he pissed me off, the TV show is yet another example he says he's doing it for fame and glory and for being on TV but its really so he can try and help more people.

Not sure if your using characters from popular comics and such but it would be really cool if Doctor Bong ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Bong http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/1714/191389-183783-doctor-bong_large.gif ) could make a guest appearance as a Shrink brought in for the show.

Does the limit on Ability Modifiers affect also temporary boosts. For example, lets say I pick up Rage Feat which gives me +4 to Strenght for 5 rounds. If my Str Modifier is already 6, does this add +2 to it or does the limit kick in even then?

Ginnel -

Since there were problems with the tape containing Mr. TV's tape interview (only 4 questings were answered) the Producers are thinking that if they don't get a full interview then they will fake it using quotes from random TV shows (and professional actors).

Does the target have to be interacting with you via a tv a for you to do that? Or can you pick up those thoughts no matter where they are at?

Back ground
I commend you for taking the high road.. lol. That BG story could have gone wrong in so many ways.

Not sure if your using characters from popular comics and such but it would be really cool if Doctor Bong ( Doctor Bong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/1714/191389-183783-doctor-bong_large.gif ) could make a guest appearance as a Shrink brought in for the show.

I'm thinking that most real world comic book characters are comic book characters in the game's world (especially characters from the big name companies / imprints). Some characters *may* exist within this setting if they are from smaller companies, are obscure or if they are strange...

The only exception to this rule are the endless.

Does the limit on Ability Modifiers affect also does the limit kick in even then?

Unfortunately..... they still kick in.

Ok finished the questions off and added a picture of Mr TV in uniform unfortunately I couldn't quite get the glasses I wanted for him

[sblock=proper glasses]
wanted those on bebop but in white

but otherwise I'm quite pleased its almost exactly how I wanted him to look other than I wanted diamonds instead of squares on his lycra outfit :)

Powers and stats will be coming tomorrow, in regards to the telepathy thing I wanted it to work at all times when he focused on it, and he'd need to be able to see them.
