MMO's and their Winter Holiday Events

I have to admit, although I think these events to be generally non-essential and distracting, they're fun as ever-lovin greatness! I was trying to do quests in a mid-level zone of WoW when the area was flooded with level 60's reaping left and right, more or less leaving the area barren, in their search for items for Winter Veil quests. It was annoying till I gave in and started with the festivities. It broke the regularly scheduled grind just well enough :) I'm sure "The Realm" probably has something going for the holidays, too, as I think I remember witnessing it years ago when I played.

And it seems that during WoW's Feast of Winter Veil (December 15th - January 2nd) will be New Year's celebrations (December 31st - January 1st). :)

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Festivus!

Each chest gives you festival coins, which you turn into the Festival Jester for random goodies - cakes, cookies, and candy canes OR, if you've been naughty, twigs and lumps of coal.

DDO's festivus is pretty neat. Gotta love the variety and random luck of some of the cakes, cookies and jellies. Nothing like being tossed around in a bar with the Beholder Cookie's telekinesis or freaking out after eating a Fear-inducing cake.

The Guild Wars festival is quite fun. They added a lot of cool and sometimes actually useful stuff. :)

One of my archers is using a Candy Cane bow. :)

Any use for Candy Cane shards post-holiday though? Aside from piles of dust that is.
