Moderator's Reminder: Keep things civil [EDIT: UPDATED BY MORRUS - FINAL WARNING]

I just want to mention here that I know I appreciate the effort the mods have made to keep the flurry of furious flames (ooh...alliteration) under control. I know I was a bit sad when I heard the magazines would be going away, but some people seem to feel quite a bit more strongly about it. I do think the shock is starting to wear off now, so I hope ENWorld will go back to its normal more civil self. (Though I'm sure plenty of people are still going to be peeved.) Hang in there, mods, the tidal wave won't last forever. :)

ANYWAY...

So yeah Kheti is gone...and now I'm wondering who gets his stuff...

I could use it you know. ;)

Definitely not. His belongings have obviously been tainted with hatred...

I'll make the sacrifice and take his stuff myself. ;)

What are we supposed to expect from these guys who want to post?

Because, for the life of me, I can't imagine how it would be any more than more of "The Party Line"

Are they able to say hat they disagre with WotC's decision?

Can they elaborate on the "secret cool plan"?

Or are we just giving thm a nice soapbox to trot out the same "everything is awesome!" spiel we've heard up to his point?

T-Billy, even if they do just give us a "party line" maybe there will be information about not the decision itself but perhaps what's to fill the void.

Owl,

Darn you! *shakes his fist* I'm already tainted! It's not like being the half divine agent of the Scarred Lands and half fiend son of Orcus makes me like you know, Exalted. ;)

Jemel,

Yeah well I didn't appreciate him calling me a shill anyway. So good riddance.

Out of curiosity,

How many of you here are mods in other boards, not necessarily RPG-related? Then you know exactly what the mods here are going through right now.

I'm a mod of two tennis players' boards (no, I won't say whose ;) ). Hats off to the mods here for all their hard work.

I am, on www.rollspel.nu, the biggest Swedish rpg site.

I am very much sympathetic to the travails of the mods at the moment, and I also like to think that I can make a good assessment as to what kind of posts will hurt the EN World brand.

Because that's what has been happening.

Now Morrus has made perfectly clear what flies and what doesn't fly, which is a good thing for the EN World community and the EN World brand.

But regardless, the mods here are an example to me, and I often think about this site when doing my chores as a mod myself. A little bit of "what would EN World do?".

/M

I was/am a moderator at a rather large forum for a particular video game development studio. I know how rough it can be for mods at times.

Yeah, I'm really not sure how useful it will be to have WotC guys post here right now -- I don't think they will be able to write anything worth reading right now, and I don't think very many people are ready to read much from them objectively.

I'm sure the WotC employees who would like to post here are good folk, had little to do with the decision, and are probably appalled by the way this has all played out. But I don't think it will help anyone to have six designers post "Hey, I loved Dungeon and Dragon too, but I think what's coming is gonna be really cool!"

SO instead we shouldn't give them a chance at all? Sorry Teflon I gotta disagree with you on this one. At least give them the rope with which to hang themselves.

Yeah, I have to support Russ on this. I'd like to think of EN World as the mature and independent voice of reason in the mad, mad RPG world.

Not that mature voices of reason don't have their lunatic fringe.
