Having just gotten them out yesterday, I can attest that receiving the local anasthetic to get stapled was by far the most painful part of the whole process.
Well, that and get the frame dropped on my head.
5 doggone shots to numb a small portion of my scalp.
Taking them out wasn't anything. It only stung when they got a bit of hair caught. The staples are curved, so they don't slide out and they hold the edges together firmly. The docs have a little plier-like tool that bends the center and the staples slide right out, no yanking or nothing.
