Modifying / class creation.

So in the 3.5 DM guide ther was a section on how to make a "new class" with guide lines on modifying existing classes and general information on creating something from scratch. I could have sworn I have come across that stuff in pathfinder, but for the life of me I can not find it in any of my rulebooks (I own them all) .

Is there something i'm missing , or is it just not there and I am remembering wrong?

Nothing core that I'm aware of.

The 3e Class Construction Guide is a pretty thorough tool that works fairly well when adopted to Pathfinder. I've found that using around 250 points, instead of the default 215, gets you pretty close to Pathfinder's power level.

Also useful for class kitbashers is the Archetypes line from SuperGeniusGames. These archetypes predate Paizo's introduction of archetypes in the Advanced Player's Guide and work more like kits from earlier editions of DnD. Most interesting to kitbashers is that it also chops up the core classes into "packages" that are supposedly of equal power. The idea is to swap the packages for the archetypes in the book, but there are also guidelines for trading packages among core classes. I'd recommend the Martial Archetypes book to start, as it includes the classes from the APG.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. The reason I ask this question is that I want to build a sort of "red mage" character. A character that can use weaponry (swords), healing and destructive magic. Magus and bard -almost- fill this role, except for the spell selection. It may be possible to make a Red Mage a Bard archetype. I'm still just musing over it myself.
