(Mongoose) Baron Munchausen - Out This Week!

MongooseMatt

First Post
Mongoose Publishing is proud to announce the first Flaming Cobra book from Magnum Opus Press, appearing this week in your local store - the famous, and much-lauded Baron Munchausen!

Players compete to outdo each other's feats of mad heroism and surreal derring-do in this unique and hilarious RPG, written by Baron Munchausen himself. With simple rules, fantastic artwork and more than 200
ready-to-use adventures, this game has been a cult classic since its release in 1998, but has been unavailable for six years.

This new edition is more than double the length of the original and contains an expansion to the rules as well as a completely new game, 'My Uncle the Baron', designed for children, the inbred and those who are very drunk. It also has insults against the citizens of many nations, but principally the French.

The first 1,000 copies of Baron Munchausen were printed as the hardback 'Gentleman's Edition' - our warehouse has already been depleted of these, so if you are a true gentleman, make sure you get to your local games store quickly! All remaining copies have been designated 'Wives and Servants Edition', and will be softback.

This game is ridiculously simple, and simply ridiculous. :)

I have played it in bars with SCAdians, at Renne Faires with complete strangers, and as a LARP within a LARP for Changeling.

The SCAdians and the Rennies settled their conflicts properly - by dueling. :) The Changelings had no battles, just regaled each other with spurious tales of daring do (and daring don't for that matter). A good deal was consumed, both in food and drink, during the contests of raconteurs.

I am very, very glad that this is back in print - it was far too glorious a game to be allowed to disappear forever.

The Auld Grump - Col. Sir George Abernathy-Witherspoon, third Viscount Haberfarm (Ret.) (Pretty much the entirety of the character sheet, right there. :) )
