In August this year, Mongoose will be releasing Designers & Dragons, a large hardback containing almost the entire history of roleplaying games, from the first glimmerings of TSR to the current day. Researched and written by RPG.net's own Shannon Appelcline, Designers & Dragons will be the most comprehensive review of RPGs, and the companies and people who produced them.

How much depth is paid to David Weseley's Braunstein game and other proto rpgs like it?

The book is arranged by company, so this sort of thing gets attention when it directly weaves into the history of a company. In the case of the Braunsteins, they get a couple of pages in the TSR article as part of the run-up to D&D.

Most of the focus is on published RPGs, however.
