Mongoose exits 4E ?

I think Character Builder has a lot to do with it. You can have all the cool paragon paths, feats, etc. you want, but the fact of the matter is that none of it can be imported into Character Builder.

It seems to me that if a 3rd party company wanted to make any money off of 4e-compatible products, their best bet would be to produce monster books, adventures, and other books that are independent of the player side of the equation.

Wonder if WotC ever anticipated the DDI Character Builder having such a huge dominance on the market, that it marginalizes 3PPs that do 4E player specific options splatbooks.

At the present time, it seems like 4E adventure modules done by 3PPs have not been significantly marginalized yet.

Dunno if the same can be said about 3PP 4E monster type books.

Considering the unbalanced power scale of Wraith Recon, that's good.

Besides, I hadn't seen Mongoose put out anything recently at all.

Hopefully they'll just stick to adventures. After all, no one seems satisfied with WotC's adventures.

I don't recall Mongoose releasing many d20 modules during the 3E/3.5E days. The only ones I can recall offhand, were an adventure path series of "Drow War" hardcover books.

The munchkin powergamer's paradise.

I recall back in the 3E/3.5E days, almost every muchkin powergamer I knew of had several of those Quintessential books.

It's not even that. Sure, the 4e versions had a lot of broken stuff as well, but mostly it was just crap. Personally, I would have been ashamed to ask people to pay for that kind of quality.

Considering how crappy their Quintessensial books were, that's just good news.
I don't know that I necessarily agree with your direction here even though I agree that the quintessential books were of indifferent quality. I thought WoTC would have preferred a greater level of enthusiam for 4e from major 3pps rather than the sporadic support thus far. While the sky is not falling, I think the general lack of enthusiasm from several important 3pps in regards to 4e is something that WoTC needs to address. Or do you think WoTC are actually happy to be kicking everyone out of their sandbox?

Best Regards
