Not enough for the next five generations of gamers.rpghost said:As for Middle Earth, isn't there enough stuff out there?
It's more hope than an educated guess. Decipher at the moment is screwing it up.rpghost said:Why would another one (the 3rd?) be a holy grail of RPGs?
Indeed. A LOTR RPG that was well-designed* and accurately reflected the source material would be a first, not a third.Ranger REG said:It's more hope than an educated guess. Decipher at the moment is screwing it up.

IMO, it did not accurately reflect the source material, good though it was.JoeGKushner said:Perhaps for Decipher but the MERP material from ICE was top notch.

Oh, I'm not talking about providing useful source info; they're far better than Decipher, certainly, seeing as they were not limited to just The Hobbit and LOTR. I just mean the system didn't reflect the source material accurately, IMO.JoeGKushner said:Wow. We must be coming from completely different fields than as some of it seemed better source material than the novels. Arnor, Gondor, and many of the other mega-source books, like the Shire, were just packed full of little things that were easy to ignore in the books but came to life in the little things.

Ditto Glorantha (as it's already public record that it will be part of the Runequest re-release). I'd say Dune... but ti's been done once and only got Herbert fetishists excited. So...
I'm going to guess Chronicles of Narnia (it would be great tie-in with the new film) or Harry Potter. I can't think of any other publisher 'doing' any specifically kid-friendly fantasy (i.e., fantasy games specifically aimed at a younger age group) at the moment, and both of those would certainly qualify.
