Mongoose in 2006 (and a bit on the Industry in General)

Hey, that sounds great! It's time that someone picked up Birthright's game idea, and in Hyboria that might be lots of fun :)!
Meh. Eden Studios paid homage to Birthright by doing a simple realm management and political system.

But I guess it's nearly nothing if you don't have a setting.

I have Fields of Blood, and I probably should have mentioned it. Realm management systems have some of the character of a board game, and it's much easier if they are set up like this. That may be the reason why an evocative setting helps. Let's see whether the Mongoose product comes with a suitable map.

Hi guys,

EternalKnight: Well, the Lone Wolf main rulebook is about to go to reprint! I can guarantee 100% that Lone Wolf will be supported _very_ heavily in S&P (and, hey, it's free!). As for supplements, no solid plans yet but you never know. . .

Thanks Matt :)

...Teflon Billy: Oh, lots of goodies for Conan :) Let's see, we have Tito's Trading Post, Stygia, Shem, Faith & Fervour - and my personal favourite, Hyborian Empires.

Think Birthright in Hyboria...

I think I am going to cry :D

Stygia and Shem? These are both traditionally so heavily featured in my Conan games that I can't help but think that you are now producing product specifically for me :)

If you are interested, i'd like to see a sourcebook for Turan and a city-set (like you guys did with Shadizar and Messantia) for Zamboula

That Empires thing sounds interesting as well.

Perhaps, but BR system is in need of rules updates, revisions, and addenda itself.

Oh yeah, BR was far from perfect. But its scope was more on nation management, while Fields of Blood is more like the old D&D Companion rules, based more on hexes. Which could be nations if you put enough of them together, but became somewhat unwieldy for more than a few.

As a BR fan, this sounds pretty good. I wonder if this replaced Mongoose's previously cancelled BR clone (whose name I forget)...

You got a valid point. I prefer the term "province" over "hex." ;)

The Land of Thomas Covenant.

Although, I find Dune a credible second choice. The world of the Dark Border by Paul Edwin Zimmer would be a very cool realm to adventure in, but fairly far from Grail status.
