Hi guys,
After many trials and tribulations, the Jeremiah RPG is finally due for release and will start appearing next week.
Based on J. Michael Straczynski's TV series of the same name, Jeremiah is the gritty tale of life and survival in a terrifying post-apocalyptic world. Based on OGL rules, the Jeremiah RPG will allow players to carve their own niche in a devastated world where the previous generations have been annihilated and survival of the fittest prevails.
The full OGL rules have been included in the rulebook, with the tweaks appropriate to the setting. Money and wealth have little meaning in the world of Jeremiah, for instance, and economies of towns and settlements are run on barter. However, for those with connections or enough muscle, a wide variety of weapons and vehicles may be had for the taking, so long as you have the means and ability to maintain them in working order.
As is appropriate to the setting, combat is fairly lethal and there are several categories of wounds that allow you to track just how badly off your character is.
As well as the full and comprehensive rules you will need to run games of Jeremiah, the setting itself is covered in glorious detail. By default, characters will have to find their own way in the world, running with gangs, defending a lone settlement or getting involved with some of the major players left in the world.
The history of the viral disease that caused the apocalypse is detailed, along with the major locations such as Thunder Mountain and Valhalla Sector. Games Masters will rarely lack for scenario ideas as many power groups are covered, both large and small. On top of this, a complete episode details the first two seasons of Jeremiah succinctly, allowing you to chart the progress of major characters in your own campaigns and allow your players to follow in their steps.
If you are looking for a post-apocalyptic game that is more realistic than fantastic, then Jeremiah is for you. If you are after a Modern-style setting that is mature in atmosphere and brings realism to the fore, a campaign with Jeremiah could be just what you are looking for.
The Jeremiah RPG will be available from next week onwards and is priced at $39.95.
Jeremiah is supported by articles in forthcoming Signs & Portents and the first supplement, Thunder Mountain, will be released in a fortnight's time.
