Hi guys,

The start of a new month, and some new releases from Mongoose Publishing.

First off, I know a lot of you have been asking for The Quintessential Rogue - I am glad to say it is now shipping and will be in your stores very soon!

The following are the official March releases from Mongoose Publishing and will be appearing in your Friendly Local Games Store throughout this month.

"Cinematic Battle Systems?"

Would it be possible to get a bit more of a hint about the 'Cinematic Battle Systems' from Crusades of Valour? In what way(s) is it different from/similar to the OMCS? Is it a 'streamlined' version of OMCS (as in the ship combat stuff in Seas of Blood) or something entirely new?

Sorry for the third degree. It's just that I've been highly interested in Crusades of Valour to begin with, and this makes it sound even more interesting. :-)

Hi guys,

In a nutshell, whereas the OMCS is positioned to allow your players to defend, say, a village or fortress against a marauding tribe of Hobgoblins, the Cinematic Battle System will let you fight with thousands, or even millions, on each side - and yet still keep the focus on the player characters. The whole concept of Crusades of Valour is on 'epic' adventuring - not WotC's high level term, but the sort of epic you see in films. Hence the name of the battle system :)

With this battle system, players can head up a squad, a division or an entire army and have an effect on the battle - but it is likely to be a little less than with the OMCS.

Ah, yes... Currently ringing my hands in anticipation. What can I say? I just dig rogues.

OK, I find this one VERY interesting. See, one of the things I'm really interested in is finding a way to play out large-scale battles while using the occasional 'zoom-in' to check out what the PCs are doing during all the hubbub. From what you've said so far, it sounds as if the Cinematic Battle System should probably be able to handle this quite well.

The idea of the PCs' effects on the battle being more limited in nature (than, say, OMCS) sounds intriguing too.

Will the Cinematic Battle System be equipped to handle the effects of higher-level magic on the outcome of a battle, or is it geared more toward the actual results of physical combat?
