Mongoose Monsters?

Does anyone know the details of Mongoose's forthcoming Monster Encyclopedia (I&II) vs their already released Ultimate Monsters book? Same creatures? Different? I own UM, and would really rather not buy the same book twice, even if the pictures are shiny and new.

Thanks
Nell.

Monster Encyclopedia is all new, never-before-seen monsters...

And they're coming out with two $35 volumes of new monsters in two months? That's...ambitious.

And if the monsters are all new, why announce "each accompanied by its own new and unique art piece."?

I'm not arguing with you; it just seems a very weird way of doing it.

Cheers
Nell.

I suspect it because Mongoose has a reputation for reusing art from product to product. This is to let you know that they are not reusing old images and giving them stats.

(Not a complaint by the way, clip art is clip art.)

Well, I hope that's true because the mock up cover is a collection of different images in the new previews mag I've been reading.

And yea, clip art is clip art. WoTC really needs to get rid of that clip art dog, those clip art pieces by Wayne Reynolds, and a few others and move onto some newer stuff already.

Trust me, the real covers for the first two Monster Encyclopaedias are very nice; some great work from Anne Stokes and Celso Mathias there.

And no, the book isn't a reprint of Ultimate Monsters, they're all different creatures :)
