ShadowKnight Press Release;

Mongoose Publishing and Matt Forbeck’s Full Moon Enterprises—two of d20 gaming’s top creative forces—team up to rock the roleplaying world with a brand-new d20 game: ShadowKnight. Blending elements of fantasy and
pulp fiction, ShadowKnight is set in the early 20th century of an alternate Earth in which high magic and machine-age technology are stirred into an explosive mix. The first books for this innovative new game are due to hit stores this fall.

In ShadowKnight, players take on the roles of adventurers in a world with more twists and turns than a Mach-10 tornado. High elven schemers war for power against the gnome unions and the dwarven mob. Undead armies lay siege to the walled colonies on the New World’s coast which are in the midst of gaining independence from the tyrannical empire. And somehow, somewhere, there is always a buck to be made - honest or not.

ShadowKnight is the brainchild of Matt Forbeck, one of the top designers in the game industry. He wrote or developed some of the most popular adventure games, including Dragonstar, Deadlands, Brave New World,
Warzone, WildStorms, and Silent Death, and has authored and edited several d20 books for Wizards of the Coast, Atlas Games, AEG, Pinnacle, Green Ronin, Fantasy Flight, and Paradigm Concepts.

Mongoose Publishing is the rising supernova of d20 publishing, having blasted into the adventure gaming scene with its wildly acclaimed Slayer’s Guides and its other series of critically acclaimed and best-selling d20 books. Besides ShadowKnight, Mongoose has also announced licenses for Judge Dredd and Slaine RPGs, both due out this
summer.

ShadowKnight is a Trademark of Full Moon Enterprises, licensed by Mongoose Publishing. Copyright 2002 Full Moon Enterprises.

Just a note

The book sounds good and I'll be picking it up when it comes out but when I first saw the title I was thinking it was an Amber book.

Phage Press put out a sourcebook for Amber Diceless Roleplaying some time back called Shadowknight so the title caused a little brand-name confusion for me at least.

Same here. I own the original Amber Shadowknight book. I'm not sure if Mongoose was aware the book existed, but it might cause some confusion.

Will ShadowKnight use the D20 Modern rules or will it use modified rules based on the d20 system.

If it uses D20 Modern then I will definitely put it on my 'to get' list as it should allow me to use most of the material within my own campaign world.

FJ like the primise of your world others need to check it out, are you going to use stright D20 Moders or use one of the clones like ShadowKnight or Urban Warfare from TrollLords ?

Matt: the way Wotc going y'alls and Steve's will proberly be better lol

My aim, with T'Erthal, is to stick with the rules 'as is' in WotC D20 Modern. From what I have read about the rule changes to Star Wars and the material in Shadow Chasers (polyhedron) I believe that WotC is going in the right direction.

My one concern is with vehicle combat. Just hope it will not be possible to destroy a tank with a rifle (like it was possible to take out a AT-AT with a blaster).

Hi guys,

Work, at this time, is focussing on the background of the gaming world, ensuring it is one, cohesive whole.

As for the rules, well we will be taking a look at D20 Modern very soon and making the decision then. ShadowKnight will likely base at least part of itself on either D20 Modern, or the extended D20 rules set we are using for the Judge Dredd role-playing game.

As far as the background is concerned, Matt Forbeck and I have had a few prelminary conversations and all I can say is that it is going to have some _hot_ ideas in terms of stretching the envelope in what you might otherwise expect from a role-playing game. . .

More news as it happens!
