Mongoose Snubbed at Ennies?

It is really weird that mongoose didn't enter.I mean I can understand not entering all of there products but Seas of Blood and Quintessential Wizard had legitimate chances of winning.Heck even WoTC entered.Especially with the winners being announced at Gen Con.And they do post regularly to these board so they had to know about it.

Personally while I'm not thrilled about Mongoose not entered (felt that snub would affect Slayers Guide to Dragons), I'm just happy there are MORE S&SS products to be fielded by everyone. :)

Speaking of...

Hey Billy, was it you who did the comparison of Seas of Blood and the Seafarer's Handbook? I've been looking for it, but don't know where to start...

We agree to disagree. I think that Seafarer's Handbook beats this one by a bit. Not vastly or greatly, but by a bit.

Heh, I was disappointed with both, and found Broadsides the best sea book of the three.

Why?

Broadsides offered actual rules for miniature sea battles. Yes, they are not perfect, but that is what I wanted.

My theory is that everyone at Mongoose hiked off to Korea/Japan for the World Cup and forgot all about the Ennies. That's soccer and the Brits for you!

I talked to them and most of the issue was sending 6 items OF EACH ITEM TO THE US that seemed to have had them make that decision, while I feel a few items could have been chosen and sent, they chose not to send any, snubbing? NO, making a fiscal business decision, yes, I beleive that is what they would say if they read this thread, check with them, but that was the answer I got when I asked at Origins.

Ahh, that is understandable.

Well, I enjoy their products and will continue to buy them- that is better praise then any award can offer.

Hal is correct. We wish everyone the best of luck with their nominations and I'm looking forward to seeing who wins what.

Thanks for your comments Furn, you're absolutely right.

They could have sent only the best of the best, or maybe do something like buy copies via the internet from a US shop and have them shipped to Eric. Both would save the overseas shipping.

EDIT: I just saw Alex's post. I'm sorry you didn't enter, but I understand you had to make the decision that was best for your company.

Mark me down in the Seas of Blood colum. Not that the other two were bad... they both had their merits... but I found Seas of Blood most useful and well rounded, with the mini-OMCS based combat system, the idea of templates for ships, and so forth.
