Monk Flurry and Returning Weapon

I think you'd need Quick Draw if you're going to flurry with more than 2 attacks, since you'd throw your two sai, and then be out of ranged weapons for throwing.

That said, you can flurry with returning sais, but still can't use the same one more than once per round.

Another problem (if not strictly answering the OP) with returning flurry weapon:

Isn't there a clause about needing a hand free to catch the returning weapon?

So unless your flurry = 2, or you have >2 arms/catching appendages, things will start gathering at your feat requiring you to pick them up (with all associated problems).

I advise the OP to just buy a Necklace of Natural Attacks from Savage Species and apply the Throwing and Returning enchantments to it.

Shuriken are not ammunition though.

It say they're thrown weapons, so I'd say that they can be returning. They'd just be expensive returning weapons that may or may not get destroyed when used. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure (but don't remember for sure) that magical ammo is cheaper than a magical weapon (but you can reuse the magical weapon)

Good catch. I'm convinced it's possible.

But if drawing ammunition is a free action, presumably dumping it back is a free action as well, so I think it would work. Noneconomical though - how many returning shurikens can you afford & couldn't you do something better with the money?

By RAW, yes.

Not too sure how many DMs will actually allow the throwing and returning of body parts, or allow fingernails and hair strands to do 2d10 of damage.

Just another hate on monks of course. The rules are stacked against us.

If they're all at least masterwork, you can buy least crystals of return (Magic Item Compendium) for something ridiculously cheap like 500 gp each, and attach one to every Sai. A weapon that has the crystal attached to it can be drawn as a free action. So, that's an easy fix. Lots of other problems, though, as listed in this thread.

Drawing and putting away are not always considered the same (quick draw feat for example does not allow [or at least does not SAY, there is a thread about it somewhere] a free action to sheath). Non-ammunition usually has the same action to pull out as return but that isn't exactly the case here.

So at best someone will have to make a decision for this case.

And while I didn't make it explicitly clear, I was not just talking about shuriken, but other monk weapons such as the sai mentioned.
