Monkey-like race?

Now all you have to do is add the winged template. Winged monkeys for the win, baby! :)
Fly, my pretties! Fly!

Actually, GAH! Level Adjustment!

If only halflings had speed 30ft, like goblins and kobolds. The ideal monkey-like race would have the halfling's stats, but trade in something for speed 30 and a climb speed.

Halflings are good for this idea, and there's a feat in RoTW that lets them use Dex instead of Str on Jump and Climb checks. Kind of underpowered, but works for this concept.

The Phanaton may be what you are looking for. See Dragon Magazine #339, orginally from the Isle of Dread module and the Mystara setting.

Small humanoid. -2 STR, +2 DEX, -2 CON. Low Light Vision, Natural Weapon (Bite 1d4), Glide ability, Forest awarness (+1 saves in forests), racial bonuses to move silently, jump, listen & Spot. Favored class rogue. Hopefully this little summary does not cross the line for copyright.
Seems to have been missed, although the speed is still 20, and they have access to these feats that use dex like your halfling example.

I like to think of humans as advanced, awakened monkeys myself.

But I'd recommend using halfling traits, changed:

- The thrown weapon proficiency changes to Weapon Focus (fling poo)
- Replace bonuses to Hide and Move Silently with bonuses to Climb and Jump
- Remove bonus on saves versus fear, replace with Climb speed: 20.

Do you need a prehensile tail? That's LA +1.

I saw it. It's the gliding that doesn't jive (same goes for the hadozee).

Klaus,

Just make say a race of halflings from the elemental Plane of Air that can naturally "fly" or glide as a supernatural ability. Maybe like once per day.

No, no, no. What I *don't* want is the gliding. The halfling stats will do fine, but I wish they had speed 30 and possibly a Climb speed (maybe achievable through a feat?... Hmmm...).

This thread has me really wanting to play a Jungle Goblin now... pity that they have a -2 CH score... I think they would make a fun Warlock otherwise...

They still can. CHR dependency can be avoided in Warlocks if you avoid invocations that require saving throws, as I did with mine. You will be slightly behind in UMD-fu and social fu but that is not too serious. The acccumulation of skill ranks in this and any social-fu skills you wish will quickly overshadow the -1 from the lowered Chr.
