Monk's Belt and Tattoo compatibility

OK, is there any official reason or ruling that says the Monk's Belt (3.5 DMG; treat the monk as 5 levels higher for AC and unarmed damage) and the Tattoo of the Monk (3.0 Magic of Faerun; treat the monk as 4 levels higher for AC, unarmed damage, and movement) don't stack? They are unnamed bonuses for all effects, and they even have different pre-reqs. The Belt requires either righteous might or Tenser's transformation, and the Tattoo requires that the creator be a 10th-level monk.

What, if anything, would stop me from giving my character 9 extra equivalent levels of monk-ish goodness for the bargain price of 93,000 gp? (Besides the DM, of course.)

The fact that unarmed damage doesn't increase past 20, hopefully. Who's going to spend 93k at lvl 11 when the bonus slowly dwindles in value after that ?

Someone who isn't going to be taking those last levels in Monk ;)

it usually says if they don't stack (see gauntlets of the talon from complete divine) so in my view, they do... but as diirk says, waste of cash.

blaine

One thing that is to be considered is even though it takes a 10th lvl monk to make the tatto's, they do not have to be made on the monk making them. The benefit of stacking which they will due to the fact they are unnamed sources is the fact that a low level monk/High level something else may do unarmed damage like a high level monk.

Example of stacking goodness.

Monk 6/Cleric 14
With: Monks Belt, Monks Tattoo's and Gauntlets of the Talon
AC Bonus would be at 20th lvl Monk (Now a Monk/Cleric Build would assume a good wisdom)
Unarmed Damage at 20th lvl Monk (Now Slashing Damage with Ghost Touch)
Ki Strike 11th lvl
Speed 10th lvl
and added in is a +4 Grapple Bonus

Cost for all of this: 113,000

See also a Monk Weapon (some nunchakus made with bones) in the "Weapons of Legacy"; damage as a monk 4 or 5 levels higher, if I remember correctly.

So if you can gather all the sources for monk bonuses, you would onlyneedto be a lv2 monk to have some benefits of a lv20 monk :)
