Monks in the Celestial Court

When a Monk becomes an Outsider what does this actually mean 'in game' how does his entry into the Celestial Court effect the cosmos? Should he gain his own worshippers/disciples? Do Archons drop around for a beer and a game of checkers?

How have you marked the transition in your campaign?

I would just treat the thing as another class (supernatural) ability (with a weird name).

I believe that since monks are based on Shaolin monks who are Buddhists in addition to being martial artists, they wanted to reflect the 20th level monk achieving ultimate enlightnement (i.e.: "satori" or becoming a "Boddhisatva"). However, since they had to fit with in D&D and give it some useful game-mechanics, "satori" became "outsider".
