Monster info/database

For each version of DnD that I have run a campaign, I have created a monster database that lists monsters by CR, by terrain and climate, and has a brief description of the monster. This really helps me find monsters after there are 2-3 different sources. I can also add anything I create, or other fan-created monsters I download, so I don't forget that I have them available. However, the new MM for 5E lacks terrain/climate descriptions for monsters. Has anyone gone through and listed/summarized the MM 5E in this way? Or would anyone find it helpful if I posted my list when I'm done? I'll be doing it in filemaker pro, but can convert it to a google doc, I'm sure.

That does sound useful if you post it when you are done.
I have used the tables at the back of the 1e monster manual 2 for monsters by climate so far with 5e.

Ari Marmell did something like that. "Sort or filter monsters by name, CR, type, subtype (if any), size, alignment (if any), and whether or not the critter’s got Legendary and/or Lair abilities."

Not exactly the same as what you described, though.

Plus there's a half dozen or so Monster-by-CR indexes out there.

Asmor has compiled this as an option you can sort by for his encounter builder. Which is one of the most useful 5e tools released so far.

I've finally completed my version of a monster database, with brief descriptions that suit me, and with climate/terrain info. This info is all "my take" on the monsters, so people may disagree and are free to edit to suit their needs. I want to thank Ari Marmell because I stole his info to add my info to; it would have taken me 3x as long to do without that basic data.
