Phil,

Can you tell us which monsters were listed in the OGL part of the book?

btw about your review, it's not Necromancer BUT Sword and Sorcery that published Creature Collection. Necromancer is a separate publisher but it has a distribution agreement with S&SS

Just guessing but none of MM2 is gonna be OGL (except the Creature Collection stuff). WotC has plans to release the book to the SRD eventually.

Only 2 monsters are OGL . . .

And those are the two reprinted from Creature Collection. The book specifically states 'Necromancer Games' in the OGL boxed text on those pages. I found that odd but I guess WotC felt it was more important to mention NG than S&SS.

I think what happened was, since Clark Peterson WAS the one that worked on it, he got the recognition. It was his creation after all, and one of the first thing he worked on BEFORE Crucible of Freya.

Yeah, that is probably a boo boo that they listed Necromancer. I am the copyright holder, but that is as a partner and producer of the book for SSS. The early SSS/Necro partnership is a little confusing since not only did I do Necro stuff but I also produced some of the early SSS books like CC and RR.

But make no mistake, those are CC creatures and it is a SSS product not a Necro product (even though I am the guy on the copyright line). I believe Steve Wieck actually created those creatures.

I think this is why it makes me glad that we always contact the appropriate people when we wish to utilize OGC material. It means we get the Section 15 block correct.

Eh don't worry Clark. Far as I'm concerned your presence in S&SS products are ALWAYS welcomed. :) Anyway I'm glad to know that Iron Tusker and the Sandmasker live on. Even if they weren't my first choice. :)

Now this was a shock. Pages 220 and 221 of the book feature two monsters from Necromancer Games' Creature Collection. These were included in the book along with a box of text talking about the OGL and encouraging people to purchase Creature Collection. This is a stunning move on the part of WotC and one I feel really shows how dedicated they are to the OGL and D20 license. Bravo!
 :) :)
Really?

Whow!

Did they also mention that a revision is in the works? ;)
