Monster Manual II

Ok, so what are the rumors about the Monster Manual II?

1. It will have Chainmail monsters in it.

2. It will have more high CR monsters.

Anythign else?

It would be nice to have demon princes, etc. I also think it would be nice to have monsters from the Monsters of Faerun Book that are not Faeuren-specific, like Bullywugs so I don't have to have/lug around that book.

Will it have monsters from the LG Journal?

From what I know:

3. It will include monsters from the Adventure Path series.

4. It will include monsters from the magazines Dungeon and Dragon. I'm not so sure about LGJ - but I hope it will.

5. It will not include monsters from other WotC books like MoF or MotP.

6. It will include monsters originally published by other D20 companies, most notably from the Creature Collection I from Sword and Sorcery.

There is nothing definite about demon princes and the like known, but many people assume that they will be included.

Hope that helps? :)

What is the Adventure Path series? I've never heard of this. Also, I really hope the high level outsiders are in it.

It is the eight adventures from Sunless Citadel to Bastion of Broken souls. Sorry for the confusion.:o

yeah but will it have the dragons from the Monstorous Manual, verbeerg, formian and firbolog giants, the brownie, leprechaun and most important. The FAERIE DRAGON!!! I want those!!!!!!! And NOW and an everlasting gobstopper!!
:)

I do not want Chainmail monsters. I do not want more high level monsters. I want all the old 1E monsters that were left out of the first Monster Manual.

These attempts to boost sales of Chainmail and the upcoming Epic Level Handbook are rather annoying and border on the pathetic.

Yeah, like the flail snail and the flumph! ;)

(Actually, I wouldn't mind having the flumph in there - I've always wanted to know what its ECL is. :p )

I don't think they mean that the "high-level" monsters in MM2 would be suitable for epic-level campaigns (at least not all or even most of them). The thing is that the core MM is pretty inadequate when it comes to monsters at high CRs. If you look at the CR listing at the end of the book you can see that CR 0-5 takes up more than half the list, while 11-20 is less than one column (one eighth of the total) - perhaps a little over one column should you include the dragons in the normal table instead of a table of their own. There are only 11 monsters (plus dragons) at CR 16+. This is what I hope they are fixing with the "higher-level" monsters in MM2.
