Monsters of Chult (now with the great taste of linnorm!)

No, no, no, you missunderstood me. All I said was that I really like the In the Realms bit as it gives those of us who do not play in the forgotten realms (such as myself, even though I use quite a lot of stuff from FRCS, Monsters of Faerûn™, Lords of Darkness, and Magic of Faerûn™.) some good ideas on how to use the creatures. Additionally, I just wanted to remind you that the Forgotten Realms is more than just Faerûn™.

I like the new creatures by the way, particuallarly the Durkden. Although If it is supposed to be a sabertoothed human, shouldn't it have the (human) subtype? :D

I decided that through magical mutation and the like that the durkden was far removed enough from regular humans to not be deserving of the subtype.

Demiurge out.

Well, it's not that big a deal, it's just that there was no real explenation for why they where no longer humans. I mean even a werewolf is a human (unless the base humanoid was another type of humanoid).

Here, all maybe two or three people who read this thread, have a new dragon. Enjoy. On a side note, this is my most non-core creature; it uses feats and spells from Savage Species, and a domain from the BOVD. Most of the feats are self-explanatory/already factored in, though, so it's still usable.

The chromatic linnorm is a greedy, rapacious feathered monster believed to be the progenitor of all traditional dragon-kind.

The chromatic linnorm is about one hundred feet long, with a massive, dinosaurian head, two sinewy legs with massive claws and a powerful tail. Unlike other linnorms, however, they have two vast bat-like wings that shift colors depending on the beast’s mood. Its skin is covered in metallic feathers of all colors, although red, green and yellow are the most common shades. Also unlike other linnorms, chromatic linnorms are exceedingly avaricious, collecting vast hoards of gems, coins and weapons. They prefer their treasure to have history, and so they often bribe, coerce or command traveling adventurers to give them unusual items. If they have no visitors to give them treasure, they will occasionally assume human form to get it themselves.
Chromatic linnorms speak all languages with a clipped, refined accent.

Combat
Chromatic linnorms are exceedingly clever, and they show it in their tactics. If expecting a fight, they will often swoop upon their foe with a breath weapon or their crushing weight, then use their featherstorm ability to discourage any defenders. They enjoy using their spells and spell-like abilities, often merely to humiliate an opponent.

Breath Weapon (Su): Once every 1d4-1 rounds, a chromatic linnorm can breathe a 70ft cone of black-lined fire. All creatures within the area must make a Reflex save (DC 37) or take 12d8 points of fire damage and 12d8 points of unholy damage.

Crush (Ex): A flying chromatic linnorm can land on opponents three size categories smaller than itself as an attack action, using its mass to crush them. A crush attack affects as many creatures as can fit under the linnorm’s body. Each creature in the affected area must succeed a Reflex save (DC 37) or be pinned, automatically taking 4d8+22 points of damage. Thereafter, if the linnorm wishes to maintain the pin, treat it as a normal grapple attack (grapple bonus +62). Pinned creatures automatically take crush damage each turn.

Deflection Aura (Su): The feathers of a chromatic linnorm project a magical protective aura. A chromatic linnorm has a constant deflection bonus to Armor Class equal to its Charisma modifier.

Featherstorm (Su): Three times per day, but no more than once every 5 rounds, a chromatic linnorm can loose a shock of its feathers in a bright flash of contrasting colors. This takes the form of a 60ft diameter burst, emanating from the linnorm. Every creature within the burst must make a Will save (DC 34) or be affected as through a color spray spell to its maximum effect. There is no limit to the number of creatures or the Hit Dice of creatures affected.

Fire Subtype: Immune to fire damage, -10 penalty to all saving throws vs. cold damage. If the attack offers no save, it takes double damage instead.

Form of Man (Su): At will, a chromatic linnorm can produce an effect like that of the shapechange spell, except that only the form of a humanoid may be assumed. Most linnorms have one or two favored forms, and every form assumed by a chromatic linnorm has one multicolored aspect, such as robes, a ring, or even the eyes.

Immunities: A chromatic linnorm is immune to all sleep and paralysis effects.

Keen Senses (Ex): A linnorm sees four times as well as a human in low-light conditions and twice as well in normal light. In addition, it has darkvision to a range of 120ft.

Poison (Ex): The bite of a chromatic linnorm carries a deadly toxin that causes internal bleeding and rapid decay. Poison DC 39 (Fort negates), 2d6 Con/4d6 Con.

Spell-like Abilities: 3/day- bestow curse, blindness/deafness, blood wind, dimension door, freedom of movement, protection from arrows, power word: stun, superior resistance 1/day- prismatic spray Caster Level 20th, DC 19 + spell level

Spells: A chromatic linnorm can cast divine spells as a 17th level cleric. It has access to spells from the Destruction and Evil domains, as well as the Greed domain if using the Book of Vile Darkness. (spells/day 6/9/8/8/7/6/5/4/2/1 + domain, save DC 17 + spell level)

Tail Sweep (Ex): A chromatic linnorm can sweep with its tail as an attack action. The sweep affects all creatures four or more size categories smaller than the linnorm within a 20ft radius half-circle centered on the linnorm’s rear. Each effected creature that fails a Reflex save (DC 37) takes 2d8+22 points of damage.

Skills: Chromatic linnorms gain a +4 racial bonus to all Appraise, Open Lock and Pick Pocket checks.
Feats: A chromatic linnorm explodes in a blast of white-hot fire when slain. All creatures within 60ft of the linnorm must make a Reflex save (DC 37) or suffer 20d6 of fire damage and a second Reflex save at the same DC to avoid taking 15d6 points of unholy damage.

In the Realms
Due to their wings, bright colors and greedy nature, sages suspect that chromatic linnorms may be the ancestors of modern chromatic dragons, or at least a relative. Regardless of their relations, they are even more dangerous than the average wyrm. One particularly notorious and well-known chromatic linnorm, named Aloheg the Quick, is suspected to be the culprit behind a series of murders in and around the Chultan capital of Mezro. Each victim was a wizard of high renown, and each had similar items stolen from them: spellbooks, arcane tomes and other sundry magical equipment dealing with prismatic spells. All attempts to ask Aloheg for information has resulted in the grisly demise of the questioner, and Aloheg’s purpose remains yet unknown.

Demiurge out.

This creature rocks! It is very well done, and although I haven't aquired savage species (yet!), I will probably use this eventually... :D
