I had a player with a character who specialized in transmutation magic, back in 2e. His favorite tactic was to polymorph enemies into fish, especially if there wasn't any water around.

How about:

a duck.

I knew an old gnome once who had a pet duck....he offered 100 gold pieces to anybody who could kill the duck in one blow. He charged 10 gps to take a swing. Nobody managed to kill it. Too bad he never told them it used to be a purple worm (or something like that).
