Monsters with <1 HD

Thanks for the answer, but my opinion or your opinion isn't really enough. I don't intend to create any partial HD creatures with fighter BAB, but I am programming a monster maker that will do this, so I need to know the official rule.

You should try to email the authors, then. Even if he got fired afterward, Skip Williams was the main author of the MM and his mail adress may be found somewhere. Monte Cook, Sean Reynolds and Andy Collins, at least, have all boards on their website where they are quite active.

From a programming point of view, I think it's simpler to round fractional HD to 1, by the way.

Thanks for that. Skip W. is probably the man for final authority. I'll see if I can find his ear, too.

Because of the "round down" rule, if it applies, all the fractional HD will yield the same result for BAB, so 1/16 or 1/2 won't matter as far as programming goes.

TheSage@Wizards.com says to treat HD as 1 for everything but hit points, so that's what I'll go with. Of course, I don't know who was answering as "the Sage", but I'll just have to take his/her word for it.
