Monsters with HD and templates. RttToEE spoilers...

Some spoilers about RttToEE.

They have a pair of Half-Dragon T-Rex's in the Temple. When you apply the Half-Dragon template the type changes to Dragon. Dragons should have a BAB equal to their HD, and they favor all saves. Yet when you read the stat-block they only increase the attacks by +4 which is the increase for having +8 str. The attacks should increase by +9. +4 from Str and +5 bab from changing to a fighters.

Which way is right?

Check the description of the Half-Dragon template in the MM and only do what it tells you to. That is, this: "Dragons should have a BAB equal to their HD, and they favor all saves." isn't to be applied to half-dragons.

you don't get all the good stuff that a normal 'dragon' would. For example saves are still based on the creatures base saves ... dragons get all saves as good saves (instead of just one or two)

Shadow of Darkness? Interesting; that has a kind of ring to it. Darkness black enough to block the light itself... /me starts to think of plot ideas.
