Monte Cook: No Love For Fighters

argh I hate the argument that "there's nothing new for fighters"...

There is nothing wrong with wanting to focus on other things. Sometimes I love playing character where I don't have a zillion things to consider....that way I can focus on the game and not the mechanics!
Especially when Monte, producing products for himself, makes no bones about the fact that he really digs spellcasters. Read the foreword to the Book of Eldritch Might/CBoEM.

BoXM wasn't done as a mass-market product, just as "hey, here's some more ideas about stuff I like."

I thought he was out of the RPG business? Must be hard to move away entirely.

Maybe being an RPG designer makes more sense as a hobby. ;)

I know some efforts of 9-to-5 game designers of late haven't been lighting my fire.

Well, I got BoXM (along with Tournaments, Fairs & Taverns) from the ENWorld Shop, and I like what I've seen. A book chock full of options that I can add to or leave out of my games. And there's a lot of interesting ideas. I'd love to see what Monte Cook has in mind for fighters. :D
