Monte Cook's WoD--we'll be playing

Charles Dunwoody

Man on the Silver Mountain
Monte's last RPG should be out Thurs at Gen Con. My players expressed a desire to start our next campaign at higher than 1st level and to play monsters. MCWoD seems to fit the bill nicely.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussion on the book. The Awakened class looks great with lots of interesting abilities (one class ability at each level) but still human.

I also like the way skills are done. Pick one of four sets of skills (and a +2 bonus to one related ability score). That set of skills is class for your current level. Does away with the need for multi-classing nicely (which wouldn't work in this game).

The setting is also nice from a roleplaying perspective. Horror in the post modern world with a hint of post-apocolypse in the middle of the US. Vampires have multiple souls, werewolfs have multiple bodies, and demons aren't human at all. The ideas seem great and suggest many, many stories for both PCs and NPCs.

I wish White Wolf would release some actual page shots but I guess I'll just have to wait till Friday to see the book itself.

I'm interested in playing it as well as seeing if Monte Cook also included info on how to incorporate stuff from that book into a standard d20 or d20 modern game. Hell, from what I seen so far MCWoD is what I think Urban Arcana should have been...

Anyways, right now someone who received an early copy has been posting some details from the book on WW's forums.. Hopefully this mean that I'll receive my preorder before next week.

edit: Someone is also posting some MCWoD info on the General RPG.

I just picked mine up from my FLGS and all I can say is WOW and Yeah! Post Apocalyptic mega power goodness potentially for evil purposes!!!!

Great stuff!!!!!!

I have a copy that I ordered thru my FLGS and I love it...sure there are a few things that are different....but it is wayyyy cool. It is designed so you can play any of the mage, awakaned, demons, vampires, or werewwolves. While I haven't read everything in detail yet, the background is great, with suggestions on how to move or adjust things if you want. All in all very cool...too bad it's his last RP book :(

Picked up a copy from the FLGS today, and will be spending the coming weekend going through it.

I was kinda hoping he'd incorporate some of the little tweaks that have come along, like consolidation of skills such as Hide/Move Silently into Stealth and Search/Spot/Listen into Awareness/Perception.

Should be interesting.

Dang, I wish Amazon would get my copy here already.

I'm one of the players the OP mentioned. I picked up my copy at Gen Con and have read thru the intro and love it. LOVE IT! I am totally geeked to play this in our next campaign.

btw, the OP and I were lucky enough to run into Monte at the Con (second year in a row I've had the chance to meet 'the man' and thank him for everything) and he was gracious enough to sign the OP's copy of WoD. Very cool.

Does anyone know where I can download a sheet for the game. Haven't found one at the White Wolf site and I haven't been able to locate a fan one either.
