Don't hack into Kevin's router and steal his website.

Well, I was browsing the Megaverse, and noticed that Kevin's wife is in paris.

Lets getting hacking before the government snipers found out I am using a combination of a Wigi board and monopoly to steal intellectual properties.

I have to say I'm intrigued. I'm not generally a fan of Monte's work (not that I think its bad, just that it doesn't meet with my interests), but a reenvisioning of the WoD is something I'd be very interested in seeing. I quite liked the new World of Darkness (those in the know use nWoD and oWoD for the new and old world of darkness editions, as version numbers get confusing: Vampire, for example had 3 versions under the oWoD before the nWoD came out), but thought they hadn't been brave enough to move away from some of the oWoD's main cannons. Giving anyone of talent free reign to reenvisage the world could likely throw up some very intersting alternatives. Whether it is D20 or Storytelling (and it seems like its D20 from what info is out there so far) is neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned, except that there's potentially more scope for a D20-CoC-style cock up with the D20 system, but if it's no good I can easily convert it all to Storytelling...

Anyway, I am really surprised, how very little we actually know about this release. Maybe I am just accustomed to the opened information flow from WotC, but I would expect at least some tidbit of information so that the fans would create a row in pre-ordering the stuff. Hell, in 4 months it should be out and we haven't even seen the cover art! What the heck is with White Wolf.

I'm guessing that they're keeping this one completely under wraps until release day. With Monte penning it, I'm sure there's going to be pre-orders anyway.

I don't White Wolf just seems to wait much closer to the release date of their products before giving out previews. The Scion previews only started a couple of months before it's release.

So even if White Wolf considers Monte's WoD to be on the same level, we're still a bit away from the time before we can expect any real info on it.

I'm mixed on this one. I like the nWOD a lot- its much stronger and more vibrant than the oWOD, and with no world-spanning metaplots. Its also somewhat darker than the old one- the characters aren't as superhero-powered as they used to be in oWOD, and the source material is more realisitc. The new system is great too- very solid and plays great out of the box.

On the other hand, its Monte Cook. Some of his stuff I like (Chaositech, some stuff in Ptolus), but most of it strikes me the wrong way and/or isn't my gaming style. I'm very hesitant of a D20 version of WOD, just because its more than likely to turn it into D&D with characters as vampires or werewolves (that is, all the abilities and feats based and balanced on combat usefulness rather than on roleplaying considerations AND some combat like nWOD is). Plus the difference between a leveled vampire or werewolf and normal person is going to be INSANE in a D20 version of the game- the vampire or werewolf could literally mow through hundreds of people with litte worry unless they used fire or magic. Blah- we have that with high-level D&D already. This is speculation of course, but if it uses normal D20 mechanics (even D20 modern), its a likely scenario.
