Monte's gaming shelf

I followed one of the links on todays news page to photos of SKR posted from his last mega-session in Monte Cook's Ptolus campaign. The following two were particularly drool-wrothy:

I'm not talking about Monte's awesome setup for their game, I'm talking about all the stuff on the shelves behind it.

Someday, I vow that I will have a gaming shelf like this. :)

MOnte and I have a lot in common with regards to our game-and-supplement-collecting insanity. If I had not been pruning my shelves for the past 10 years due to marriage and space constraints, I would also likely have a library that hopeless. :D

I also had a friend who boasted of once having "the gaming library of unholy evil", but divorce cost him approximately half of it. :(

I think I read about that artifact in the BoVD. :D

A couple years ago I gave nine banker's boxes full of game stuff to GoodWill. That was maybe one quarter of my collection, and was before 3e/d20 appeared.

GoodWill takes gaming material?

/me makes mental note to check out local GoodWill office.

I called and asked the one near where I live, and they said "yeah, we'll take just about anything." It surprised me also.

I don't think I've ever given away any gaming material. Other than when my bag of dice got stolen (including my very first dice, darn it), I still have everything I've ever gotten my grubby little hands on. As a result, it fills about three book cases and part of a filing cabinet. It's fairly extensive.

I'm jealous of people who can afford stuff like pre-moulded miniature tiles. I love that sort of thing, but my dedicated game room is on the third floor. With sloping walls, it's just large enough for my group to play comfortably. Lots of scenery would make it seem really cramped.

If I put my entire collection on a shelf like Monte's (rather than scattered around my apartment on separate bookshelves) it might be as large. And I bought one of those skulls for me ex... :) I probably spend less than Monte per month but have been collecting since 1978. And thankfully I have a gaming store fairly close with a great bargin bin. :)
