Monte's NEW Secret Project

ya think that maybe the reason that he can't say anything about it yet ius because it's still taking form? and it might not work out like he's planning?

i mean mid 2003...

as for the WotC book, we know why he can't say anything: it's against WotC's rules.

So here's the deal...

I don't want to be the master of hype. In fact, I'll be honest about something. I think it's dumb that I can't tell you about the WotC project that I wrote. D-U-M-B. It comes out in October, for gosh sakes. I'll happily tell you about what I'm doing for Malhavoc in December, let alone October. I think that if I did tell you about it, that would be BETTER marketing for WotC, because there's lots to tell and I think (hope) lots that people would be excited about.

I'll also point out that I never started the whole "secret project" thing. People were asking me what I was working on, so I mentioned that I was doing something for WotC and I wasn't allowed to say what it was yet. It's really no more secret than any other project WotC's working on. They just don't like to reveal information very far ahead of time.

As for the "secret Malhavoc project," I'm sorry if that sounded like I was doing the hyping thing yet again (in fact, if you read the column, I said that very thing). I won't mention it again, until I can tell you more what it is, believe me. The real truth is, it's so far in the future that it's only now taking shape. It's not that it's a big secret, it's that if I started spouting off about it, I'd say things that would turn out to be wrong, because they're changing.

Mostly, all I really wanted to get across is that we are taking Malhavoc Press very seriously--we're in this for the long haul and are planning heavily for the future.

Thanks.

Thanks

First off let me say thanks for the reply Monte. I meant it when I said earlier that you are one of the best in the business. I'm happy with all your work for 3e and d20 so far. Because of that I've always taken Malhavoc Press seriously from the moment I heard about it and went to the site for the first time. Keep up the great work, I plan on purchasing everything on your list that is coming out.

But I stand by what I said earlier... I'm just tired of the words 'Secret Project', but I'm looking forward to both WotC's and Malhavoc's. :)

Let me say this, I for one am very pleased that you announced your upcoming product line. Not only that, I was astounded by sheer volume of products and how far ahead you were able to give us a glimpse of. I couldn't tell you what I was planning to be doing a month down the road, let alone ten. Mostly I was impressed because looking at your schedule it appears ad if Malhavoc Press is going to be around for quite a while and that makes me glad since I have thoroughly enjoyed all your previous efforts.

I don't want to be the master of hype.
As for the master of hype thing: I apologize if this comment bothered you. It was meant as a kind of joke. I never meant to suggest that you actually wanted to be the master of hype. If you frequent these boards, as I do, you will have noticed that some people have speculated an awful lot about the WOTC secret project you worked on (I don't think I could count the number of thread with my fingers). I find the ammount of speculation quite funny and I don't in anyway blame you for it. But nonetheless it still occured. I merely meant to point out that whatever it is that you do it must be something right because somehow, even if inadverntly, it has managed to create a lot of hype. Perhaps, the only thing you are guilty of is putting out great products. :)

I guess what I would like to say is that sometines no matter what you do you can't help peoples reactions and that you shouldn't be held responsible for them as they are completely out of your control.

I wouldn't ask you to do anything any differently than you already have. I posted this thread because I like you am very excited about your upcoming projects and can't what to see what they look like; whatever they are.

I am just happy that the devious genius behind the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil is putting out D20 products period.

P.S.

I mean devious genius in a good way. :)

That's my guess. If this isn't his secret project, it should be his next one! :)

Anyway, I'm just happy that BOEM II is only a few weeks away.

Cheers
