Monte's Ranger...

I read references to "Monte's Ranger" rather frequently around these boards, and from what I read, it seems to be "better" than the standard PHB ranger. What's the difference between the two? Where can I find "Monte's Ranger"? Or better yet, if it's ok to post the stats, could someone do that?

Thanks much!

Monte's was better then the 3.0 ranger, but the 3.5 is the best yet. Monte's get ts the 6 skill points per game, and got extra feats. I played it for about a year, but when 3.5 came along I converted to that verision and like it much better.

Last I heard, Monte's alt ranger was for 3.0, and the 3.5e revised version is pretty close to his design, i.e. 6 skill points/level, good Reflex saves, and d8 hit dice. IIRC, Monte gave bonus feats, as opposed to "combat styles".

I personally find the Ranger first presented by Monte to be overpowered. However, his version found in the excellent Book of Hallowed Might is far more balanced. The 3.5 Ranger is better than both, but it might be nice to add some more combat styles for those who don't want to be Legolas or Drizzt.

I liked his 3.0 version but like the others mentioned I switched to the 3.5 ranger. I haven't seen the one in Hallowed Might but might check that out.
