OK, we all knew it... but now it's official.

"The Book of Vile Darkness" appears in WotC's spring catalog (I haven't seen it, but that's the scoop I got. Still hoping someone can send me a scan.)

According to the guy with the catalog:

"apparently it covers all the 'evil' stuff in D&D; Murder, pillaging, Human sacrifice, etc."

He also says:

"It's got a pretty freaky cover too."

Unfortunately, he didn't have it to hand to type out the actual product blurb. :(

It has to be more then evil PCs. It could be how to run evil no matter if it's PCs or NPCs. Maybe evil orginazations of dieties and epic proportions?

What are the other titles mentioned in the Spring catalog? I'm hoping the product I playtested will be out in October/November.
Unfortunately, it's Monte and SKR's "secret project" that's been in limbo since the "re-organization" at WotC. I'm hoping it makes it into the catalog so I know for sure it is being published.

A copy of AEG's Evil?

Funny how it seems like a lot of WotC stuff is rehashing of either old edition stuff or stuff from d20 publishers.

No problems on the first, that's expected with a new edition; but the second seems fishy somehow.

I've noticed the rehash of d20 publisher works here and there in the splatbooks and Dragon.

Do you have any specifics?

I would say it is far more likely that it is innocent crossover. As a ruleset, the things you can do with d20 are fairly obvious to anyone with a designer's inclination.

I think to truly innovate in d20, you really have to significantly depart from d20.

I had extra rage and extra smite feats before WotC published them. But I hardly think I was the only one...

Now the Animated Caltrops idea WAS mine and I was first, that I wish I got some props for.

hmm...considering the bleak nature of my campaign that will sart soon, this sounds intriquing...

And i hope they cover npc's better than Enimies and allies.
