I've played it for about 40 hours now
I've played MOO3 for about forty hours now.
My evaluation:
They needed to put another six months or maybe another year or two into the project.
On the plus side, I havn't encountered any bugs. This is actually amazing -- I'm used to games crashing before the patch comes out. Master of Magic was tremendously painful until about version 1.3 (and even then it could still creash).
On the negative side, MOO3 is just not a "fun" game. Too boring. Its a simulation, not a game.
They needed more "fun" stuff.
My recollection is that MOO2 is a better and more fun game than MOO3. Given how many years ago MOO2 came out (seven years ago?), that's a strong statement.
There are a lot of obvious features missing from MOO3, but you can read all about the problems on the official boards.
