My Opinions on the Matter

If at all possible, go with glossy paper. Also, minimize white space, use a good, readable font at a readable size (I prefer Palatino at 10 points, but 8 point Times New Roman would also work), and use a mix of color and black and white. Say three, maybe four, full page color pieces, the rest in black and white. You're a good read, so I won't say anything about that.

BTW, have you approached Steve Miller at d20 Weekly about playtesting? Some fine playtesters subscribe to d20 Weekly

Any chance of at least getting glossy stock paper, like Relics & Rituals? I'd much prefer that over the paper used on the FFG books (though it doesn't stop me from buying them!).

Ditto to this; my copy of The Divine and The Defeated withstood a beef stew assault, something I doubt my FFG books could have done.

ROFL!! Hey, if that's not a valid argument for making it glossy, I'm not sure what is! :D

I have to agree with Alan.

Malhavoc has been good everywhere EXCEPT the font size. That font is too small for people to comfortably read, and instead of double-spacing the text just up the point size a bit. I believe it's a classic case of form over function with the PDFs since Banewarrens.

While it might sound like a nit, I doubt I will pay money for Arcana Unearthed unless the publisher starts taking this factor into account. The original design Malhavoc had was easier to read in any format--the new format keeps the PDF's more managable, but an increase in point size in pretty much mandatory.

I have to agree. I've found most of the products printed under the Sword & Sorcery label to have unappealling fonts and sizes. I understand the whole "text density" thing, but sheesh, I like to be able to read the thing without making my eyes bleed.

I like that their hard cover books use glossy paper, that makes a HUGE difference in the quality of a book. Art looks so much better on glossy paper.

I wish that Arcana Unearthed could have just a few color pages. It's amazing how just a few spreads of color, even 4 to 6 pages improves the look and feel of a book exponentially. Well, that is if the color art is any good. :D
