Huh. I never knew D&D was a board game.

But seriously, I don't think we need to worry. The kid is obviously disturbed. He would be disturbed even if he weren't a gamer. The only people who won't be able to see that aren't worth our time and attention anyway.

I hope the poor kid gets the help he needs.

Yup. Board game. Lack of research on the part of the investigators. Never fails to cloud a case when people jump to conclusions and move on assumptions.

I'm sure you are right about his having problems despite the game. It's a shame that we feel so powerless as a society that we need to find the quick-fix-blame factor in everything, instead of recognizing the complexity of our humanity and dealing with such incidents on their individual circumstances and merits. *shrug*
