There will be a google maps like interactive map of the “setting”, quickly corrected to region, of the area that these events are taking place. Plus txt based adventures and NPCs playing characters interacting and giving out clues via the live stream and instragm and maybe other places.

I'm only about seven minutes in, but this sounds like a bigger event than previous story arcs, if only due to the interactive element. It sounds like they're experimenting with a more shared/interactive experience. Sort of like Pokemon-meets-D&D.

Not much theory needed: Icewind Dale is the gateway to the Arctic of Faerûn, seems this setup would work great for tracking exploratory expeditions in the tundra and glacier...
