Pre-orders are live for the upcoming Forgotten Realms books, with one D&D Beyond listing providing some new details about digital DLC released alongside the books. Posted today on D&D Beyond, the "Forgotten Realms Ultimate Bundle" will include three digital expansions - Astarion's Book of Hungers, Netheril's Fall, and a third "secret" expansion to be named later. The digital expansions will be gradually released over a three week period. Astarion's Book of Hungers will include new player options, while Netheril's Fall will be an adventure book of some kind. Page count is not available, but currently the only way to get these three digital expansions will be through buying the "Ultimate Bundle," which has a whopping price point of $159.99 and includes both physical and digital versions of the other Forgotten Realms books.

What (little) information we know was provided by D&D Beyond and can be seen below:

  • Astarion’s Book of Hungers: a digital expansion where players can indulge in their vampire desires with new player options, monsters, and adventure content – all shared by Astarion himself! | Release Date: November 11, 2025
  • Netheril’s Fall: a digital expansion where players can explore the lost Netherese Empire in a time traveling adventure | Release Date: November 18, 2025
  • A secret third digital expansion – to be revealed soon! | Release Date: November 25, 2025

My issue with this price point is that 160 gets you physical and digital and the digital only is 128. That just doesn’t make sense to me if I only get the digital. Seems like a money grab and I even said this to WoTC at GenCon. I got a should shrug and no good answer really. Just some BS

If I wanted this, I usually get digital version, I would get the physical digital bundle and just sell the physical to recoup my losses.

I get company’s need to turn a profit but this is a complete overcharge and it’s making me rethink things moving forward. I’m the person that gets everything but now I’m not sure
So they give incentives to get people to buy the physical books but not to digital. The $75 in savings you get by buying the physical bundle and not everything separate is the extra cost they charge for the PDFs of the two main books and the price of the digital maps and dice.

It is not over charging it is just not giving you a price break for buying everything and to be honest the bundle has things like the vtt maps and digital dice ($5.99 each) that are not Nessiary for someone looking to just complete the books.

Digital player $30
Digital dm $40
3 mini books $45 (15 each)
Total: $115 vs $127

So you could buy the physical for $160 hope to sell the books for about $70 on a second hand market and it would cost you about the same with no extra hassle.

yes, and bundles generally should be cheaper than buying the individual items, so whether you call it overcharging or not, it disincentivizes going with the digital bundle, and I can see why that might get you to question the whole thing and how much you want / need it too

I completely agree with you but since Hasbro bought D&D beyond they don't really do "cheeper" and when they do it is usually by giving you what other companies give out for free with purchase (PDF).

it's definitely cheaper now than when Beyond was separate. Then it was full price for both.

Thanks, and after talking with them at GenCon they said tha future versions of digital books would be much cheaper, and that the price for these was not discounted at all and wouldnt change it. I think someone screwed up and pushished a page they shouldnt have and instead of fixing it there leaving it as is, which is the part that seems like the money grab. Based on what I heard from them directly usually there is a bundle discount on both physical and digital someone just dropped the ball.

It doesnt even seem like this is a hard thing to fix on there part, maybe some ligistics like for people that bought it already you can refund the money or provide online credit, Im in IT is not a tech problem, its a people problem.

I don’t care at all for Astarion (or Karlach, or Lae’zel)
WHAT DID KARLACH EVER DO TO ANYONE?!

Good lord! Why are you putting her in with a horrible sarcastic vampire (who is admittedly very funny) and the angriest frog-person in Realms-space? She's a lovely girl!

That's like writing about Buffy: "Man I really hate Spike, Tara and The Master"! Like what did Tara ever do lol?

Physical and digital of two books, plus digital bonuses (which legitimately do seem like they’d have just been cut entirely if they hadn’t been made digital exclusives), a Faerun Atlas. As long as the books aren’t small, I’d say it’s a fair price, but still too much for me probably, especially as I get more and more tired of DDB not improving.

Am one else still wondering why they are calling a single map of Faerun an Atlas? It's 1 map, yes you can zoom in and out on it, but 1 map does not make something an Atlas.

Well, I wouldn't want to read too much into what they might be doing here...but the implication is that it is more than just a scaleable map. They already have those in Beyond for other Setting products. Atlas implies to me, at least, some sort of hyperlink functionality. Like, you click on Shadowdale or Neverwinter and get directed to the relevant information in the books.
