I feel like 4th edition kind of relegated the dice to a bit of a background role. The d20 is still king, of course, but other dice only get picked up as needed by a power.
I like it when dice symbolize things. I like it when a d12 comes out and you know you're dealing with a barbarian or a dragon. I like it when the wizard is all about the d4, from his hit points to his magic missile.
I want 5E to have more excuses for rolling a variety of dice. Because dice are cool.
