Me and a friend have been going over the rules to 4e, and have really liked them so far. Really like the use of templates to quickly power up a monster, but do have one question concerning them, and was wondering if it's been addressed (sorry if I missed the answer, I've been none to miss things directly in front of me before). What happens when you add a template to a solo monster? More specifically, we were mostly thinking of adding 2 templates to an elite monster, such as making a frost adept lich (little idea he suggested of a lich who froze himself to death as part of the ritual to become a lich. An interesting twist, but it does pose this problem).
Again, sorry if it's already been answered, I just found it a little detail that's lacking. The only thing I could think to do would be to make it an elite one level higher, but that still seems a bit off. Of course, this is one of those meta-gamy areas that will probably be addressed after a year of pratical experience in the DMG2.
