Morrowind

Civilization I and III (II just didn't do it for me)

Not just Morrowind, then. IME, people usually like Civ II better than Civ III (I prefer SMAC, myself). Oh well, different tastes, I guess...

I got Morrowind and it's expansion off a friend who hates RPGs (he got this free with his Video Card). I am enjoying it immensely. I just completed the thieves' guild quests in Balmora and started on the blades' ones, so I've got a way to go yet.:D

Ah, well, I dislike sci-fi quite a bit, so Alpha Centauri is out for me. Notice that none of the Master of Orion games made my list...

Simply put, I love it!

Do yourself a favor and ignore the main quest for as long as you can. The side quests are where the real fun is.

Just an update. Ive been playing the game a bit longer now. I have to say its still fun.
There are so many places to explore and getting the side quests are a lot of fun. The only thing I couldnt stand is the sloooowwww walking pace.
So OK I admit I cheated and upped my speed. I did so because I love to wander around seeing things and places on foot rather than using one of the modes of transport they use. Other than that I realy enjoy the game. I may well get the expansion.

Peace.

Oh, I might as well chime in. I loved the free roaming part, I loved uncovering the story, and I loved how detailed everything was. In the end though, I hated the battle mechanics, which made the game become very tedious to me. I found despite the story, the npc interactions were shallow. As mentioned, at high levels, all challenge is stripped from the game, add that into the equation and I never finished it.

It should be noted that a new edition of the game is coming out on the X-Box that includes all of the patches, updates, and both expansions.

At least, that's what I'm hearing.
