Back in the day, yeah, everybody that played a paladin wanted nothing more than a Holy Avenger for Christmas.

As far as what drives me up a wall, it’s got to be the Bag of Holding. It always seems to exacerbate the greed part of murderhoboism.

I like that you hate the item that avoids you having to keep track of food, but you love the item that avoids you having to keep track of emcumbrance. Apparent contradiction aside, you're all about paperwork, aren't you? :)

+1 Flaming Sword! Nothing's cooler than a flaming sword. You get to kill something with a blade and WITH FIRE! :)

Years ago I used to have a -1 Cursed Dagger which I loved. I refused to get rid of it. Why you ask? Because I wanted to prove that my Assassin character could still kill despite the curse, and the dark evil blade appealed to my teenage angst. Ah, to be young again ...

I think the bag of beans is one of the awesomest magic items in the 5e DMG.

Things like the weapon of warning ("No one in the party can ever be surprised again!") are the most annoying to me.

I haven't tried out the 5e versions in play yet, but I was a fan of the original Deck of Many Things and Wand of Wonder. A little chance and risk to go along with the magic is fun.
My players enjoyed the bag of beans they got earlier in the campaign. I plan on introducing both the deck of many things and a wand of wonder at some point. Randomness for the win!

Love:

Ring/potion of delusion - these are hilarious.
Ring of invisibility - because LOTR
Amulet of the Planes - Nothing is more fun than accidentally landing in the abyss
Well of Many Worlds - All the fun of the portable hole plus the Amulet of the Planes!
Folding Boat - A boat! That folds!

Hate:
Bowl of Watery Death - Talk about unfair!
Wand of Enemy Detection - Range is 60'. You could probably get the same results by pointing a non-magical stick.
